Print of Gustav Klimt - Hope II - 1907-1908
Gustav Klimt - Hope II
Year: 1907-1908 - Oil, gold and platinum on canvas 110.5x110.5 cm
Preserved at: Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY, USA.
In Hope II Gustav Klimt represents a pregnant woman with her head bowed, as if praying for the safety of her child. A skull peeks out from behind, a sign of the danger it faces. At his feet, three women with their heads lowered.
It seems that Gustav Klimt titled the painting Vision, but in analogy with the previous painting Hope, in which a pregnant woman is represented, this work is also known as Hope II.
