Vincent van Gogh painted various paintings entitled The Sunflowers. They are a series of paintings made between 1888 and 1889 to decorate the room of the guest Paul Gauguin in the "yellow house" in Arles before his arrival. To his brother Theo Vincent van Gogh he wrote: "I am working on it every morning, from dawn on, as the flowers wilt so quickly." Sunflowers are among Vincent van Gogh's best known works.
