Claude Monet wrote a letter, dated August 13, 1887, to his friend Théodore Duret in which he mentions the subject of this work: «I work like never before, and with new tests, of figures en plein air as I understand them, made as landscapes. It is an old dream that haunts me constantly and that I would like to realize once; but it's difficult! "
Difficult thing, but admirably succeeded in Figure in full sun (Woman with parasol turned to the right).
