Vincent van Gogh painted The Harvest at La-Crau in June 1888 on a hot summer day, after some preparatory drawings (in ink and watercolor).
The painting depicts a serene and laborious countryside. In the foreground is an already partially harvested field. Beyond the fence, in the fields, you can see the peasants working, those who reap and those who drive the cart. Three farmhouses reflect the intense sun of Provence on the clear walls and, finally, on the horizon you can see the mountains, Montmajour.
