Year: 1891 - oil on canvas 81.3x81.8 cm
Preserved at: Scottish National Gallery, Edinburgh, Scotland, UK.
Poplars along the Epte is one of the twenty-three paintings made by Claude Monet on this subject, near Giverny. The poplars are seen from below, from a boat loaned to him by the painter Gustave Caillebotte.
When the city government decided to auction the trees, Monet bought them in order to delay the felling of a few months, in order to finish the series.
